At Men’s Vitality Center in Glendale, one of our services is Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) testing. We offer this service because STDs are incredibly prevalent, are detrimental to your health, and unfortunately, many do not manifest symptoms in men. Regular STD testing is a great idea for your health if you are sexually active, particularly if you are not in a long-term, monogamous relationship. It is especially important to come in for testing if you have any unusual symptoms, or you have had vaginal, oral, or anal sex with someone who either has or might have an STD. We at Men’s Vitality Center are here to answer any questions you might have about STD testing. Here are some that we hear often:

How do I know if I have an STD?

The only way to know for sure if you have an STD is to get tested. If you need STD testing, contact Men’s Vitality Center, and we can help you.

How soon after unprotected sex can I be tested?

If you have been exposed to an STD, come in for a test immediately. For some STDs, symptoms manifest after a couple of days, and sometimes, it takes several months. If you experience symptoms, it is best to come in right away.

Will every STD show up on a test?

There are tests available for all STDs except for HPV in men. Testing methods include blood or urine samples and swabs of the infection site.

How can I prevent STDs?

The most effective method of prevention is abstinence from all sexual activity, or being monogamous with one partner who does not have STDs. Using condoms consistently and correctly reduces the risk of infection, but are less effective for certain STDs, such as herpes.
